About us

About an hour and a half away from Budapest, behind the Fonyódi hill, beyond the hustle and bustle of the Balaton resort town, in the middle of the wild and romantic Nagyberek nature reserve, Boros Kastély Guesthouse rises like a peninsula. The building and its 30-hectare estate were once owned by Count Zichy and his family, who used it as a summer residence. The mansion was restored through family collaboration, and this collaboration is evident in every detail of the estate. It is the gift of a lifetime for couples who dream of a romantic wedding, close to nature, family and at the same time of high quality. A baroque staircase leads to the Civil Ceremony, a line of chestnut trees lining the poolside. The lower level of the building can accommodate weddings for 30-60 people, while a marquee can be set up in the castle grounds for up to 180 people. The cosy atmosphere is enhanced by the full use of the castle for guests.

Accommodation

The cosy and elegant dining room on the ground floor, the comfortable lounge and reception area with its wood-burning tiled stoves and fireplace, furnished with period furniture, create the homely and homely atmosphere of Fonyódi Kastély. Honeymooners will enjoy a renovated 25-square-metre room with private bathroom and elegant private balcony. Married couples are welcome with fruit and a bottle of Légli wine. Our 3 family rooms are located on the first floor, each with a 25 m2 terrace. The family rooms are open plan and offer comfortable accommodation for 2+2 people. On the first floor there are 2 double rooms, 3 double rooms for 2+2 persons, while on the second floor there are 4 double tower rooms and 1 double room with balcony, all with a beautiful view of the Fonyod mountains or the pool. For additional guests we can arrange accommodation in the surrounding villages, subject to cost and availability.

Extras

In the mature garden of the Boros Castle everything is given that is essential for an elegant tent wedding, fresh country air, beautiful green lawn, starry sky...A well-chosen marquee can be an excellent venue for a wedding party. The size of the marquee should take into account the size of the dance floor, the flooring and the type of marquee wall, as well as the table arrangements. In terms of decoration, the possibilities are endless for marquee weddings. From classically elegant round tables, to vintage style, or even a Hungarian wedding layout."It is also possible to build a 100-250 square metre / 50-180 person tent next to the pool. For a 100 person wedding, a classic tent with tent flooring and furniture can be ordered from 950,000 HUF."

For those arriving from Budapest:Budapest- Fonyód 150 km On the M7 Budapest- Nagykanizsa motorway, after the 149 km stone, take the Fonyód-Lengyeltóti exit, turn right before the Motorway Management building towards Fonyód. After about 200 m, turn sharp left at the sign for Fonyód -Bélatelep onto Bézsenyi út. After crossing the main canal and the railway track, turn left at the first major crossroads (Fácános - Palánkvár) on Kupa vezér út, pass the Fácános Abc and continue to the next crossroads (Fő út - Csisztai út). Turn left here on the Csisztai access road to Csisztapusztára, and from here there is a sign indicating the building.For those coming from Keszthely: on the old main road 7, Balatonfenyves, Alsóbélatelep, then after the sign Fonyód-Bélatelep, turn right towards the mountain opposite the entrance of the Napsugár campsite in Bélatelep, then continue straight on Turul Street to the intersection of Fő út - Csisztai út, then turn right on the Csisztai road to Csisztapusztára, where there is a sign for the building. Dinner is one of, if not the most important and perhaps the most difficult part of the wedding party. Considering the venue, we offer a wide range of catering options when you choose Boros Castle.You can taste the traditional flavours of Somogy county, but we can also offer an elegant 5-course menu. You can choose from the traditional Hungarian wedding menu ( Újházi Tyúkhúsfleischleves, stew, meat platter, homemade desserts, midnight stuffed cabbage), but if you wish, the popular mixed menu (starter, soup served, while the main course and dessert served buffet) is also available through our professional catering service.The highlight of the wedding menu is the magnificent wedding cake, while the party is rounded off with a midnight snack.
